Restaurants
Both Oakhurst to the south and Mariposa to the north have an unusual number of nice restaurants for you to enjoy. It is about 15-20 minutes from the property to either destination. Here are the highlights.

Mariposa
Steaks, Seafood and continental:
*Charles Street Dinner House Our family's favorite.
*Savoury's - Yum! Never a disappointment !
*Sugar Pine Cafe One of our favorites anywhere. It's kind of a "Gourmet" cafe, well prepared and presented dishes at reasonable prices. Specializing in comfort food.
*Yosemite Bug Cafe A really cool place in the woods on the way to/from Yosemite on the 140. Always has vegan and vegetarian items. White board menu. Some nights there is live entertainment. See map for location, just north of Briceburg on route 140.
"1850" Steak, fish and specials. Open late.
Mexican:
For really delicious and authentic tacos and other Mexican fare, visit the taco truck across from the Pioneer Market. (see markets, in the drop-down menu "additional resources for directions). Irregular hours.
Salvadores Mexican Food (Sal's) A Mariposa classic. Located at 5109 CA-140.
Castillos Mexican Food Good food in a nice and friendly atmosphere.
Cafes:
Happy Burger: A classic American cafe with a huge menu and top notch burgers and fries. On highway 140 across the street from the Mariposa History Museum.
Miners Inn Cafe Part of the Miner's Inn Motel.
Grizzly Cafe: A nice little cafe eight minutes from here. Next to the mini-market. Take East Westfall Rd north (right turn) onto the dirt section of the road (in wet times of the year this road gets mucky!). Drive along the 2 mile dirt section of road to where it becomes paved again and continue to the stop sign. Turn left (this is Triangle Road). From there it is about a mile to the cafe. They close at 8PM off season and 9 the rest of the year. 209-742-7354
Sportman's Cafe: A popular local cafe about twelve minutes from here, at Woodland and route 49 towards Mariposa.209-966-8223
Pizza:
The Pizza Factory offers pizza and pasta and is open late. Be sure to request thin crust if that's your thing. We love their pesto and garlic with fresh tomato pizza.
Health food store:
*High Country Health Foods and Cafe. Very nice source for quality sandwiches and a pretty complete market to boot
Bakery:
Janz Bakery Has a great selection of wonderful pies, pasteries, bread and more.
Chinese:
China Station: This place is in the shopping center at the beginning of town
Ice Cream:
Yosemite Treats is the place to go after a long day of hiking!
Donuts:
*Donuts A Go-Go The best!! In the shopping center when you first get to town. Open mornings. Closed Monday.
A bar with food:
The Gold Coin, has occasional live music that is also open late.
Bar without food:
*The Hideout Saloon has occasional live music. Ask innkeepers for directions.
Wine tasting and craft beers:
The Alley A cool hangout on Mainstreet that has beer and wine.
Casto Oaks This spot, on Main street, is a great for tasting some of the best local wines Mariposa has to offer!.
Butterfly Creek Winery A nice country destination down the road from our place.
Silver Fox Winery Be sure to make an appoinment to taste their delicious wines!

Oakhurst
Very Fancy:
In Oakhurst you will find *Erna's Elderberry House, a true 5 star restaurant. It offers awesome French themed five course meals and service as good as you will find anywhere in a beautiful setting. Perfect for that extra special moment. Not the place if you are on a budget.

*Crabcakes A favorite in Oakhurst.
Sweetwater Steak House On route 41 just north of Oakhurst.

Alice's Cookhouse: The place for BBQ and Cajun (559) 642-4900 Make a left on the 41 toward the park. On the right.
Italian:
*Dicicco's Good quality family style Italian food with a friendly and accomodating staff.
Pizza Factory has tasty pizza and pasta!
Japanese:
Oka When you first get to Oakhurst from our place, turn left at the first traffic light. On the left. (559) 642-4850
Mexican:
*Taqueria Plazuelas A fantastic littel restaurant with homemade tortillas & mouth watering mole! Make a right at Ca 41 (the second light). On the left. See photo below. (559) 658-7771
*Mariscos Colima: Delicious and authentic Mexican food at very reasonable prices. What it lacks in ambience it makes up for in fresh ingredients and great salsa!
El Cid: Make a left on Ca 41 toward the park. It's a few miles up the road on the right.
Wine and Beer:
*Southgate Brewery Good eats and craft beer in a hip-ish rustic environment.
*The Queen's Inn has it's own winery as well as a nice space for enjoying local wine and beer. They also offer live music on some weekends.
Candy and ice cream:
*Reimer's Candies Fantastic home made candies and ice cream just noth of Oakhuest on route 41.
Fish Camp
Fish Camp is about 20 minutes from Oakhurst, heading north on route 41 heading towards the national park.
Tenaya Lodge, a large resort operated by the old Yosemite Park concessionaire, has several restaurants. Our favorite is Embers.
The Narrow Gauge Inn has a very nice resaraunt. Reservations are reccomended. Close to the Yosemite Sugar Pine Narrow Guage Railroad attraction.. Closed Monday & Tuesday.
In The National Park
Aramark operates all the restaurants in the national park. Their page lists all dining opportunities in Yosemite.
